Our origins: looking beyond the surface

Castle Hall was founded in 2007 with a clear purpose: to bring greater independence, structure and consistency to operational due diligence.

For institutional investors, performance could only tell part of the story. Understanding an investment required examining the organisation behind it — its people, ownership, operations, governance, controls and business relationships.

The work demanded more than information. It demanded the experience to recognise inconsistencies, evaluate conflicting evidence and distinguish a routine finding from something that could change an investment decision.

Under Chris and Anne’s leadership, Castle Hall built a global diligence business serving institutional investors across hedge funds, private equity, real assets and long-only strategies.

As technology evolved, so did the opportunity to extend that knowledge.

Not Artificial Intelligence. Decision Intelligence.

The people behind the vision

Chris Addy, FCA, CFA

Co-founder, Akintic | Founder and CEO, Castle Hall Diligence

Chris’s diligence career began in 1997, placing him among the early practitioners of operational due diligence in alternative investments.

Following audit experience with Deloitte and PwC, he joined Atlantic Philanthropies, then UBP, before co-founding Amber Partners. He established Castle Hall in 2007, bringing together independent research, professional judgement and a sustained ambition to modernise diligence.

His contribution has extended beyond the firm. As a former Chair of the CFA Institute’s Capital Markets Policy Council, Chris has helped advance discussions on standards and practices across the investment industry.

Akintic continues that work on a broader stage: applying decades of diligence knowledge through technology, and delivering intelligence into the places where businesses make decisions.

Anne Coady, CPA, CA, FICA

Co-founder, Akintic | Managing Partner, Castle Hall Diligence

Anne brings more than 30 years of experience across auditing, operational and risk diligence, corporate administration and governance.

Before joining Castle Hall, she spent nearly a decade at PwC Cayman, where she served as Director of Global Compliance and Administrative Services. Her career has given her a detailed understanding of the structures, responsibilities and controls behind complex international organisations.

A Chartered Professional Accountant and Fellow of the International Compliance Association, Anne combines technical depth with the practical judgement that comes from examining how businesses operate.

That perspective is central to Akintic’s foundations: understanding which evidence deserves attention, what it may mean and where to look closer.

From institutional diligence to company intelligence

Every organisation depends on other organisations.

Customers, suppliers, partners and counterparties all influence its opportunities, resilience and reputation. Understanding those relationships should be supported by the same discipline that institutional investors bring to understanding an investment.

AI makes it possible to gather and organise information at greater speed. Castle Hall’s experience provides the knowledge of where to look, how to evaluate sources and how to assess severity and impact.

Akintic brings those capabilities together.

Each Akintic Profile applies a diligence-informed lens to assemble a structured, evidence-backed view of a company – its reputation, behaviour, and trajectory, including strengths, opportunities, risks and developments.

Building what comes next

Our ambition is to make that intelligence useful wherever business happens.

For individuals and teams, Akintic Profiles provide a consistent starting point for understanding companies. For enterprises, the opportunity extends to enriching existing company records and bringing intelligence into established systems and workflows.

The same research engine also powers DiligenceIntelligence, Castle Hall’s offering for researching asset managers, industry service providers and portfolio companies.

Across these applications, the principle remains the same: technology should extend the reach of professional knowledge and strengthen human judgement.

Akintic is the next chapter in that ambition.

Experience shapes the intelligence. People decide what comes next.
